Herbert Milner Snuggs, DMD, age 84, passed away January 27, 2018. Born May 15, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama, he graduated from Phillips High School, Birmingham- Southern College, and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He was a member of ATO fraternity and OKU national dental honor society. He served in the U.S. Army. For 25 years he practiced dentistry in Birmingham and was affiliated with the University of Alabama School of Dentistry as a part-time and full-time associate professor from 1964 to 2008. Herbert Milner Snuggs, DMD, age 84, passed away January 27, 2018. Born May 15, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama, he graduated from Phillips High School, Birmingham- Southern College, and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He was a member of ATO fraternity and OKU national dental honor society. He served in the U.S. Army. For 25 years he practiced dentistry in Birmingham and was affiliated with the University of Alabama School of Dentistry as a part-time and full-time associate professor from 1964 to 2008. A member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church since 1974, he served as a deacon and elder of the church, a board member of Briarwood Christian School and Campus Outreach and a member of the Jethro Council. Deeply devoted to his family as a faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, his concern for others extended far beyond family. He was committed to a ministry of mentoring couples to strengthen them in their marriages and, most importantly, their relationships with the Lord. He was predeceased by his father, Weymon Preston Snuggs, and his mother, Miriam Milner Snuggs. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Stone Snuggs, son, William Milner Snuggs (Sandra), a daughter, Emily Snuggs Neel, (David); five grandchildren, Caroline Neel Wesley (James), Isaac Snuggs (Samantha), Jacob Snuggs (Anna), Thomas Neel (Taylor), Emma Snuggs Evans, (George); five great-grandchildren, Nora Snuggs, Ezekiel Snuggs, Wyatt Wesley, Eva Snuggs and Joy Snuggs. He is also survived by a brother, Weymon Preston Snuggs, Jr. (Ann), a nephew, Weymon Preston Snuggs, III (Wendy), and a niece, Allison Snuggs Johnston (Wayne). Visitation will be at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, January 31st at 10:30am, followed by a service in the sanctuary at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 2:45pm. The family would like to express gratitude to the caregivers at Somerby at St. Vincent's, Aspire Cahaba, Dear Seniors, Southern Care Hospice, and Comfort Care Hospice.
