Donald L. "Red" Raburn passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12 at his Meadowbrook home, surrounded by family.
From an early age, Red believed in the value of achieving success and always seemed to have success with his business ventures. In 1960, he started Red Raburn Motors. Donald L. "Red" Raburn passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12 at his Meadowbrook home, surrounded by family.
From an early age, Red believed in the value of achieving success and always seemed to have success with his business ventures. In 1960, he started Red Raburn Motors. This begun a 30 plus year career in the automobile business. His slogan was "Many used cars. with many unused miles." He was also involved in real estate ventures and endeavors. He earned respect from his loyal customers. Red felt if you treated people the way you wanted to be treated, you would succeed. And succeed he did in numerous avenues of life. He felt his greatest success was longevity of friendship. Red treasured his friends.
No one will ever be able to fill the shoes of Red Raburn. Red will always be remembered for his passion in life, the difference he made in other's lives, and his generosity to others. He never wanted recognition for his good deeds and he never wanted to be reprimanded for marching to his own rules- which he marched to for 82 plus years safely!
Special thanks to Theron, "The World's best friend," and Carolyn, our "Queen of the Hill." Anita, Deborah, and Pam, you ladies allowed Red to remain "King of the Hill." We are most thankful to each of you.
Red is survived by his daughter, Dianne, grandson, Gabe (Lisa,) and granddaughter, Rachel.
Visitation will be from 2-3pm Monday, May 15 with a service at 3 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
