Audrey Jean Pickmosa was born on July 17,1930 in Ironwood, a small mining, lumber town in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Her grandparents had migrated from Finland. She had one younger brother,George Bud Pickmosa.

Audrey met the love of her life, Kenneth Harlan Kalember, at the age of 17 when he returned from serving in the Navy in the South Pacific. They met at a regional basketball game on a bet. She lost the bet and showed up at a Catholic Youth Organization where they had their first dance.

They married and moved to Chicago. She worked at Sears Roebuck as a secretary supporting her husband through medical school. They moved to Ann Arbor where she worked as an executive secretary at Ford Motor Company while her husband completed his studies at the Univ. of Michigan to become a dentist. They later moved to Mason, Michigan to raise their family including their oldest son, Randy, middle son Bradley and youngest daughter Suzanne.

Audrey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed art, fashion, design, and traveling all over the world. She especially loved dancing with her husband. They shared a special connection that was felt by all. Their favorite song to dance to was Frank Sinatra "It Had to Be You".

She lived her life with a strong faith. She loved and respected all those around her and treated all people with kindness and passed those values on to her family. As a family every summer, they enjoyed vacationing at Higgins Lake, Michigan and in the winters at Siesta Key and Sarasota, Florida. In retirement, their life took them from Michigan to Florida, Atlanta and finally to Birmingham, Alabama.

Audrey was preceded in death by her father, George; her mother, Sigrid; one brother, Bud Pickmosa; and a niece, Carrie Pickmosa.

Audrey battled dementia the last few years, but throughout it all, she was always smiling and remained joyful and enjoyed her time with loved ones. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 87.

Audrey is survived by her loved ones, which include her husband of 69 years, Kenneth Kalember; her three adoring children, Randy, Brad, and Suzanne and her husband Tom Constantine; and her loving grandchildren, Kristin Nelson and husband Eric, and Karin Kalember. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathy Nasi Pickmosa; Kathy's two children, Connie and Eric; and extended family, including Peter Andolina.

Audrey will always be remembered by her loved ones with the quote from her loving husband . . . "together forever always."

The family will greet friends from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Celebration of Audrey's Life & Legacy at the funeral home. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham.
